Star Wars Party!

We had such a blast at our Star Wars Party last night! Here's a couple pictures of all the fun games and activities we had. Not pictured are all the lightsaber battles that were going on throughout the night. Thanks to everyone who came to the party!

The Snowy Day!

This Winter, the librarians in the children's room decided to decorate the office door with images from "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats. This is a classic Winter picture book and one of our favorites so we were very excited to decorate.

We get so many great books added to our 5th & 6th grade section every month, but here are a few that we have loved recently.

December Programming Highlights!

We have some great programs to highlight that are coming up in December. The best part is that registration is not required for any of the programs listed in this post! Just show up and have a good time.

Baby Sign Language 
Fridays, December 9th and 16th
Ages 0-3 years
In this program parents and children will learn baby sign language which is the use of manual signing allowing infants and toddlers to communicate emotions, desires, and objects prior to spoken language development.

Star Wars Party 
Tuesday, December 20th
Grades K-6
A long time ago in a library far, far away….
We are having a Star Wars party to celebrate the new movie! Children in grades K-6 are invited to enjoy activities, crafts and snacks.

The Magic of Alexo 
Tuesday, December 27th
All Ages
Join us for the Magic of Alexo: A Family Show! This program will be held in the multipurpose room downstairs.

Noon Year's Eve Party 
Friday, December 30th
All Ages

Too young to stay up until midnight on New Year’s Eve? Come join us at our Noon Year’s Eve party! We’ll have crafts, play games, and count down to Noon!

Election Day Drop-In Crafts and Voting

It is almost time for the most important election of the year! Three very qualified candidates are in the running and it is up to the children of the Merrick Library to see who will be the winner! Will it be Elephant, Piggie, or Pigeon?
Come in on Election Day, November 8th from 11am-2pm to make some great crafts and vote for your favorite Mo Willems character!
